Chronological Bible Reading Plan, Job 40-42(Using this plan schedule)
Here is a good overview guide (with videos) of Job
from Bible Project.
For a scholarly insight into the dating of the book of Job, read this
article. The following
article is an introduction into
a chronological reading of the Bible vs. reading the books in the order in which they are officially organized. Here's a useful
chart that lays out the timeline. Here is another
timeline that expresses Israel's history relative to the other
things going on in the world at the same time.
God's Response to Job (good article):
- There is no explanation for why people (even the righteous) suffer
- Job has insufficient knowledge to grasp God's design
- Don't question God's justice...just trust
- Human pain and suffering does not always happen as a clear consequence of sin
- Sometimes terrible things happen for no reason discernible to any human
- Job's response: humility and repentance, apologetic and acknowledgment that he's overstepped his bounds
